Indigenous Training Employment Project (ITEP)
ITEP essentially aims to increase the participation rate of Indigenous people within all operations of our paarent company, Compass Group through training and career development strategies.
Career Development has been a major focus and we now “proudly” employ Indigenous people within Trade, Middle and Senior management roles. Notably we have achieved Indigenous participation rates as high as 40% and an overall retention rate of 83%.
Our overall commitment includes provision of employment and training, supporting local community initiatives, and the establishment of a number of successful Indigenous Joint Venture [JV] companies.
These include:
ESS GUMALA a JV between ESS & Gumala Aboriginal Corporation (Pilbara WA), now recognised as the third largest catering company in Western Australia.
ESS NAAD a JV between ESS and the Northern Australian Aboriginal Development Corporation Pty Ltd based in the Northern Territory.
ESS NYFL a JV between ESS and the Ngarluma and Yindjibarndi Foundation Ltd based in Roebourne WA.
ESS EASTERN GURUMA a JV between ESS and Eastern Guruma in the Pilbara Region, WA.
ESS GEBIE a JV between ESS and the Anindilyakwa Land Council providing infrastructure services on Groote Eylandt.
Our contribution to Indigenous Australia has not just been to provide employment and training, but to assist groups to acquire a share in long term sustainable and profitable business.
